Subject: Resting Heart rate has risen.
Having started working out - with a fair amount of rigor, I have noticed that when I take my resting heart rate at night it is elevated. Usually it was between 58-60 but now tends to run about 70.
I wore a heart rate monitor last night on my bike workout. 11.83 miles in 30 minutes on the lifecycle - level 5 random and was pretty constant at 150 -155. So within my training zone. Does the resting rate elevated mean that I should cut back on the intensity a little bit? I always take Sundays off regardless, but need I reduce other days as well?

I just want to be sure to be ready come August.

Also, I have been Checking blood pressure and that has fallen way off. Running about 113 - 60 when resting.

u should be taking your RHR in the morning...immediatley after waking up...this will eliminate more variables that would tend to elevate it...(just coming off a workout, time in between workout and testing...etc.)

minitor it for a week or two in the immediate a.m. to get a baseline...then u may be able to spot rises in RHR leading to stress and overtrianing.
