Subject: IMWI volunteers needed...
Hello:
I have volunteered the last 3 years as a run course Marshal for IMWI and loved every minute of it, and am getting the word out for volunteer help since I'm in the race this year. I have copy/pasted a copy of the e-mail I received from the run course Marshal Captain, Nancy Griswold. You may contact her at the following e-mail address: [email protected]

The note about some of the spectators is true. There's always some persons that don't think and walk in front of the racers. There's also a handful of college kids near the campus area that think they can do whatever they want.

For those that volunteer, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...................................................................................

Hello Previous Run Course Pointers and possible recruits!

Ironman Wisconsin 2007 - Sunday September 9. 3 volunteer shifts detailed below. Sports In Wisconsin has installed a new database behind the volunteer registration. This means you have to reestablish yourself as a volunteer.
Check it out at : http://www.sportsinwisconsin.com/volunteer/index.php?category_id=99...
Don't forget, it's Run Course Marshal that you're signing up for. Select an intersection and shift (12ish-4, 3:45-8 and 7:45-10ish-12amish)

This year I'm really more concerned about people being available for the second shift when the majority of the runners are on course. Concerned about seeing finishers? Take one of the positions from Henry up to the square.

We're expecting partially sunny weather with a 5-10 mph breeze from SW and highs about 78.

Also, I'm in need of an individual or individuals that would be interested in being my co-captain and be in charge of the Square, Turnaround and Finish. Since it's full of spectators and fenced off it's hard for me to bike up there. I've got 6 other miles to patrol 10 times.

I'm going to make every effort to get preregistrants shirts this year. I'll have labeled packets at the corners too.

Thanks for your assistance.

See you in September!

Nancy Griswold

Thanks for the heads-up! A labmate and I both volunteered for run marshals, and I will try to pass the word on.

Good luck in the race!

Thanks, I may do this. By the way, I hope she is right, but isn't it a little early to be predicting the weather: "We're expecting partially sunny weather with a 5-10 mph breeze from SW and highs about 78. "

Last year - 60 degrees and someone was spraying a water hose in our faces the whole day.

2 years ago - Friggin' hot and sunny.

This year - who the heck knows??? Hopefully somewhere inbetween.

Like this past weekend?? Training went well for the 2 hours I did, but I can't imagine pushing it like that for a few more hours.

I'll be up there in the massage therapy area.  I'm currently a few shifts split between Saturday and Sunday.

I'll see you folks up there!
