  • 13m 57s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

my first open water event. it was a bit to get used to. i could have pushed much harder. Not really breathing hard on the exit. Felt great.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster
Transition 1
  • 02m 52s
Comments:

I practiced this a few times but probably could have done it much faster. decided to put on my jersey, mistake... i got it on but wasted precious seconds. Got stuck behind a girl walking her bike out of the transition had to wait till the chute opened up to run. Lame...
What would you do differently?:

shirtless the whole race
Bike
  • 46m 43s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.26 mile/hr
Comments:

At 220 lbs i got passed climbing and took it back on the downhill. Fun!
What would you do differently?:

Ride harder. I wasn't nearly sprinting. It's more mental than anything, i need to enjoy pain more.
Transition 2
  • 03m 24s
Comments:

I didn't know you should get out of your shoes coming in off the bike. Cool idea. I put on socks. nuff said. That was not a good idea. Great today, no blisters, but i could have broken 1:30 if i hadn't.
What would you do differently?:

no socks. don't sit to put them on.
Run
  • 24m 43s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

i ate this gel 3 miles before the end of the bike. and burped it up through the first mile. Had and in general uneasy stomach. Walked for 50 yards to settle things. Felt better. Ran real fast. I wish they had mile splits. The last mile and a half was a quick one. It was my fastest 5k ever even with the sluggish start and the walking.
What would you do differently?:

get the nutrition right.
Post race
Warm down:

none, i should have raced much harder. I was feeling normal a within minutes. but hey thats why i'll do it again, to go faster.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

inexperience, and not knowing what my limits are

Looks like a pretty good race.  You'll learn little tricks and every race and you'll also have the joy of making stupid new mistakes each time as well!  Congrats Triathlete.

Nice first race Chris. It takes a while to figure out what works on the nutrition side of things and right as you get it figured out it changes!!

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. I think i might try to catch another sprint race before Lake Logan (A race), to get some more practice/mistakes under my belt. It sure was a lot of fun.
