Total Time = 1h 42m 27s
Overall Rank = 246/318
Age Group = AG Men 30 - 34
Age Group Rank = 22/22
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5. Coffee and english muffin with peanut butter, Smoothie. (too much?).
Event warmup:

Back and forth to pick up chip and get marked. Checked new goggles in water. Simple stretching at home and arms before swim.
Swim
  • 21m 32s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

OK swim. Was passed by most of the Green and White caps (next age groups). Felt better as I calmed down. Not happy with time... but I guess you should be about 25% slower than your pool times (including the run to T1). Had Lactic acid for a fair bit (anyone know why ... never had this in a swim).
What would you do differently?:

More open water work outs. Try more set swims rather than all out 500M, 250, 500...
Transition 1
  • 03m 14s
Comments:

Slow... but I took it easy with the run to the spot.
What would you do differently?:

Love the support from my wife... next time ignore her (Just kidding). Pose less for photos. Oh and remember race belt D'oh!.
Bike
  • 45m 35s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 17.99 mile/hr
Comments:

First tri with a road bike (if a 15 year old ten speed counts :). Felt great. Nice to pass a few people. Had a gel 10 minutes in.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, but my 16.3 mph seems slow. I need to improve this if I want to "compete". Had to stop to attach my heart rate strap about .5 mile in.
Transition 2
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

Good Transition. No complaints
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Took a bottle of water on the 1st .5 mile of the run. Gave it to the 1st water station ... MISTAKE. Should have ran with it though not used to running with something in my hands.
Run
  • 30m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run after a
What would you do differently?:

Should have pushed myself more. I can run faster than that (will try not to walk the water stations next time).
Post race
Warm down:

Met family, love the support. Drank more water, Powerade and ate pasta and PB&J.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lactic acid on the swim. I didn't push hard enough on the run.

Event comments:

My Bike should have been better and I should work on hills ( I train at a flat airport here in Cincinnati). Will post to ask where to train in Cinci.

Loved my 2nd Tri. Feel free to comment/suggest.

Good job on the race.  I am not sure why you would have had any issues on the swim.

Looks like this was your first race in a while.

Doing longer swims sets, and incorperating set work does help.  I do sets of 50 and 100's on a regular basis.  Some on 10 seconds rest others on 15-20.  Hardly ever are they on long rest.

Congrats on the race. It was a nice race but hot and I agree with you on the run. I had a little prob.  with the dam rocks. But the shaded part was nice. And it is nice to pass folks on the bike....I would not know about passing any where else.    Have a good week.
