Total Time = 1h 13m 4s
Overall Rank = 91/166
Age Group = Women
Age Group Rank = 20/54
Pre-race routine:

Traffic was a bitch (more so than usual). Made it to the lake, found a good parking spot, waited in line forever to register, waited in line for the bathroom, chatted for a few minutes.
Event warmup:

Nothing
Swim
  • 10m 33s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Since this race has grown so much, the swim has turned into a nightmare. Very crowded, very physical. Very hard to get around the backstrokers, side strokers, breaststrokers, and doggy paddlers. I am getting more used to the physical aspect of a mass swim start, so I am ok with swimming over people and holding my ground. The buoy was a cluster fuck, as usual, and some dude on my left kept trying to move me over by elbowing me in the chest several times, and I responded my hitting him in the head several times ;). Always a pleasure doing battle.
What would you do differently?:

Be a faster swimmer so I don't get caught in the slow lane.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 not recorded.
What would you do differently?:

Nothin
Bike
  • 34m 28s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.15 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt good on the bike tonight. I was frustrated at first because I had so many people to get by and there were cops on the course and the slow pokes were not riding on the far right side where they should be. I have never hit my brakes so hard and so many times in a race. Eventually I made some space for myself and was able to hammer away.
What would you do differently?:

Be a faster swimmer so I am on the bike quicker and not get caught in so much slow moving traffic.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 not recorded, but I was as speedy as I could be
What would you do differently?:

nothin
Run
  • 28m 3s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

I wanted to have a good run tonight, and even though I went harder than I planned on the bike I still felt good going into the run. Pam caught me just before the last steep hill and we took a wrong turn (and we weren't even in a car together!) but quickly realized our mistake and turned around. She pulled away but I kept her in sight and just tried to keep going as steadily as I could. Chris caught me about 1.5 miles in and tried to pace me to catch Pam, but it wasn't happenin. Soon, though ;).
What would you do differently?:

Nothin
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a towel to wipe my eyes because they were stinging and then went back to the finish to watch more people come in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothin tonight. This is a PR for me by a few minutes, I think.

Event comments:

The Lake T race series is really growing, and one of these days they are going to have to put a cap on the number of participants. It's grown so much from last year. Bill does a good job of handling things and works hard to keep the town happy so the series can continue. Worth the $20.

LOL! That guy out at the buoy shoulda known who he was messin' with! Next time put him under. I hear you about swimmin' faster so you don't get caught up with all the pokeys on the bike. Geez, I don't know how many times I had to sit and wait til I could pass. And why don't people ride to the right!!

You really tore it up last night!! Nice work buttercup!!
