Pre-race routine:

Usually like to get a light jog in right after setting up transition, and then get my swim stuff ready and hit the water and just unwind. I am very comfortable in the water so it relaxes me before a race.

Comments:

Went out relatively hard to get my pace down and treied drafting off a guy who eneded up taking 3rd male overall, just couldn't stay with him for too long. I was on the inside so when we got near the first buoy, I got slapped a lot, and one guy kept running into me, so I pushed him off and sped around buoy. First time doing this race, next year I will know better and can do a lap under 8 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Not go out as hard, find a good spot to set my pace, draft on a similar swimmer.

Walked a little getting into transition, should not feel tired after swim, no more walking!

My conditioning was not good leading up to this race, I should have gone under 1:20 but felt sluggish on bike and run.
