Pre-race routine:

Ate a banana, drank some coffee, and took a shower.

Loosened up and took pictures with my supportive family who came up to watch me.

Comments:

This course is very challenging and no one runs 100% of the time. I walked though the water stations and during some down hill sections but I limited my self to 20 seconds only.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, for my first and maybe last marathon I'm very proud of myself.

Warm down:

Warm-down, ha-ha... It took all I had to walk.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The downhills really killed me but I'm happy with my performance.

I know my first mile was 9.25 (too fast,slowed down to 10-11 min miles) minutes and my last mile was 9.40 minutes. But I can not tell you anything in between.
Course: You run one lap on the Kidd Brewer Stadium track on the campus of Appalachian State University and head out toward Grandfather Mountain. Running mostly on windy back roads and ending up on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

WOW... CONGRATS !!! That is an unbelievably hard dcourse..top 10 in US. And this was your first mary ? You are a PLAYER.

I was looking back thru my old race rpts and saw your nice comments about my half mary in Hickory in June. I wish I would have looked earlier.

Your time is really fast too.

CONGRATS AGAIN. Hope I can just finish one in December in Charlotte.
