Subject: New Bike Advice?
After looking around for quite a bit (and racing on my Gary Fisher Zebrano Hybrid), I think I finally found a new bike for me. I'm looking to buy a 2004 Felt F60.

I'm only 5'1", so I will definitely need a 650x47cm bike....actually went for a fit last night. For the 2005 bikes, only the F70 comes in this size. The bikes look almost identical, except this year's F60 has Ultegra Rear Derail, where next year's F70 only has 105. My LBS still has a 650x47cm F60 in stock, so unless somebody grabs it before I do, I'll probably buy this Sunday.

Two questions:
Does anybody have a 2004 F60 and have any raves or rants about it?
If I can't get the 2004, do you think I'll really regret not having Ultegra rear derail on the 2005?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't think you'll notice any real differences between the Ultegra and 105 rear deraileur.  Its my understanding that the main difference as you move up in the component lines from 105 to Ultegra is weight.  You should be good to go.

Good luck with your purchase and let us know what you wind up doing!

So you aren't going to buy it on Saturday and race with it on Sunday?

I was just at Supergo today and was looking at a Cannondale 3000, it was real nice.

Like Motivated said, the difference between the two is mainly in the weight.  Lance might be able to tell the difference, but mere mortals like us would be hard-pressed to.  Is there a difference in price between the tow different year models?  If the 2004 fits and is available now, I would go for that...but that is only me.  What does your gut tell you?

Thanks Guys! It always helps to hear from those that are wiser than I when making a large investment.

My gut is telling me to go with the 2004. It's hard to find a good bike in my price range for my height, and this one seems to have everything that I want. I was also looking at the Giant OCRI and the Trek 1500 WSD, but the Felt just feels right.

Mike- No I will not be using this bike on Sunday. Downside: 1 more tri with a slow bike time. Upside: I'll finish the race without crashing! If I buy this weekend, I'll definitely be riding down Coast Hwy with it next weekend. See you at Mission!

I recently purchased an 04' Specialized road bike at a discount because the 05' models are available and I love it. It isn't a true triathlon bike but it is awesome and was significantly cheaper because of the time of year. Specialized has some good equipment sponsor several pro triathletes...
good luck
