Total Time = 59m 9s
Overall Rank = 224/629
Age Group = F 30-34
Age Group Rank = 11/38
Pre-race routine:

Talk about procrastination..... did this race so long ago, I'm having difficulty remembering things about it.....

Ate a bagel (I think...) and drank some water. Took 2 endurolytes. Drove to race site.
Event warmup:

Got in water and swam around a bit, maybe 100y, not much more. Peed. Got back out to listen to the pre-race meeting.
Swim
  • 08m 29s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was very crowded with first-timers and the previous waves made the water pretty murky, but I found my place in the deeper water closer to the buoys and chugged along. Goggles fogged up which made sighting a bit fun, but managed to muddle through.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out how to keep the goggles from fogging. Can't afford to buy a new pair for each race. :)
Transition 1
  • 02m 45s
Comments:

Times are an estimate, but include the run up the beach into transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 25m 30s
  • 8.4 miles
  • 19.76 mile/hr
Comments:

I always go out hard on the bike since my run sucks so bad. Knew the course which is a major plus for me. Felt good to hammer and pass so many people. Good mental mojo.
What would you do differently?:

Not a dang thing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Tired coming in off the bike and dreading the run. Felt good with the transition though.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Run
  • 20m 50s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Always hate the rubbery leg feeling after getting off the bike. Also, after riding so hard, breathing was out of whack. Tried to simply keep moving, putting one foot in front of the other, trying to keep in mind my desire to finish the race sub-1 hr.
What would you do differently?:

Need to run more, and do more bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank some water, loaded up stuff in the truck.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of consistent training, as always seems to be the case lately.... too many races, not enough training.

Event comments:

Always enjoy Dave Johnson's races. Will do this next year, but as support personnel for the kids.

This may sound weird, but lick the inside of your goggles just before you go. The spit will stop the fogging. Old swimmer trick.

Good luck on your racing.
