Overall Rank = 185/196
Age Group = 30-34 Female
Age Group Rank = 24/26
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:30, suited up and packed up and checked out of hotel. Had a half bagel with cream cheese and a banana. Set up transition area and then walked around race venue waiting for swim wave to start.
Event warmup:

None, other than walking around and trying to keep warm. It was a cool start to the day.
Swim
  • 08m 13s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 44s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good Swim. Very choppy by the time I got into pool but I swam well. Didn't encounter too much bunching up with other swimmers until the last 50 meters which was good. I did, however, get kicked in the stomach and crotch by some asshat who used me rather than the wall to push off of.....later, when we started the bike, he went the wrong way in transition.....and headed toward the run start...I smiled to myself as I went the right way. Sweet revenge!
What would you do differently?:

Not get kicked in the stomach and crotch....train more to increase speed.
Transition 1
  • 03m 20s
Comments:

Slower than I wanted. Long run into transition area....need to hustle a little bit more and get away from using camelbak...that should save a little time.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transitions more.
Bike
  • 47m 5s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 15.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Nice ride...not quite as fast as last year but I worked on keeping cadence high and the ride went well. The cadence was mostly in the mid 80s which is good for me. I passed a few people and that felt good. I was much more comfortable this year with my bike handling, hydration and clipless pedals....it's nice to see improvement.
What would you do differently?:

Ride lots...keep improving.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Good transition...felt strong and ran out of transition to start run.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on transitions.
Run
  • 45m 19s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 14m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good...need to continue really pushing the running but I felt good and didn't have my back and hip pain that I've been experiencing lately. Weather conditions really helped me because it wasn't too hot or humid.
What would you do differently?:

Work and improve on run training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and headed straight away for something to drink. Hung out with my hubby, Jimbo, and my sister-in-law and niece. Relaxed, had some nice cold smoothies, took some pictures.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training consistency, coming down with stomach flu week before race which resulted in week off from training and food.

Event comments:

Nice race for beginners, great course and very well organized. It was nice to do this race again this year and have a smoother race than my sprint in June which was really rough. This course and race was a nice confidence booster.

Nice race today! I was there, but I don't think the whack-jobs that kicked me in the stomach and neck received their karmic reward like the guy who kicked you did!!!

Congratulations!

Wonderful job at the race today. It must be very satisfying to come back the 2nd year to a race and feel so smooth.

Nice race report!

Keep up the great work!

Very nice job on your race. I did this race to. This pool swim was rough-lots of people got hit, including me. Glad yours got it back.  The old guy that was hitting me didn't, except for the elbow I gave him.

Way to go!!!! So glad you had a good race even with a full contact swim.  It is so cool he got his payback in transition.

Great job!  I didn't have as rough of a swim this time, but that has definitely happened before.  Usually I don't get to watch them screw up in transition.  I would have started laughing.

Keep up the hard work!  You're doing great.  Practice getting your bike candence into the 90s.  Trust me . . . it helps once you get used to it.
