Comments:

Made it up Old Stage Hill without stopping! Felt great on the hills and fast on the downhill.
What would you do differently?:

Only drank 2/3 of my Accelerade bottle and ate half a Cliff Bar. Needed to drink whole bottle and at least one gel.
Transition 2
  • 03m 43s
Comments:

Had to pee. Waited until T2 because I thought I would lose less time than peeing during the race.
What would you do differently?:

Not pee??
Run
  • 1h 24m 1s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 13m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

The run kicked my behind!! After mile 2, I ended up walking alot. My legs were shot. It was a total bonk. I was hoping for 1 hour and went :24 past that! It was pretty miserable. Legs gone and my stomach was funky so I could'nt consume anything but water for fear of losing it.
What would you do differently?:

Consume more caleries on the bike and at very beginning of run before stomach goes south. Need to prepare better!!
Post race
Warm down:

None

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of caloric consumption, failure to prepare better for the run.

Event comments:

Great race and 5430 is a great organization! I'll be back next year!

NIce job hanging in there.  The heat made it tough on all of us.

Sounds like you had a great race until the run and that was pretty tough on everyone!  Way to hang in there in the heat!

Ditto for me on the run. IT was humbling, that's for sure. Great job gutting it out and finishing! One more race under the belt and a learning experience for next time

Nice work despite the heat!  It was a tough day all around, but especially on that RUN!!!  I don't think any of us got enough electrolytes in on the bike to sustain us through that heat on the run.   CONGRATS on a good race
