Total Time = 1h 18m 41s
Overall Rank = 160/419
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 2/10
Swim
  • 14m 44s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was fine until about the half way point. At that point I caught up with the previous two waves which happened to include and inordinate number of REALLY SLOW swimmers. People had simply stopped swimming, were doing back stroke, were floating and do who knows what else. The last 400 yards or so took much longer than necessary due to the fact that I spent msot of my time swimming around clueless individuals.
What would you do differently?:

I dont know. My biggest limiter was the congestion issue and there's not much I can do about that.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No T1 time (its a FIRM race). T1 time is part of my bike split.
Bike
  • 35m 23s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.96 mile/hr
Comments:

I figure my T1 was about 2 minutes so my "real" time and pace were closer to 33:23 and 18 mph.
What would you do differently?:

Keep hammering up the hills. I still loose time when I climb and need to keep on working at it.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

No T2 time either. T2 is included in the run time.
Run
  • 28m 35s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was fine. I could have pushed a little harder, but I was unsure of the course and the trail section killed me just a little bit.
What would you do differently?:

Keep on running!
Post race
Warm down:

Recovertie. Walked around. Talekd to few people I knew then waited around with Chris for the awards.

Event comments:

I jsut wish FIRM would provide transition times. I'd really like to know my "true" run and bike times.

Wow!  Second- congrats!

The swim was a bit ridiculous, huh?  I never expected to have so many people just STOP swimming.  Also, I did a FIRM race last weekend (Old Colony) that had transition times, so they are clearly capable of doing it.  Grrr!

Great results! The waves are always a bit of a problem (even I was passing some swimmers in the whitecap wave) so it's a shame you didn't get a "true" swim time. Even so, you rocked the course. Congrats!
