is LIGHTENING!!!

I was riding today along the road by the beach nad was actually having a much faster ride than normal (about 20-21 mph) Yay..but the sky got dark very fast and I turned around to head back to my car.  Sky opened up and dumped every ounce of water on my head...Kinda hurt being pelted my the rain, but I just wanted to get back to my car as fas as possible.  I was about 10 miles away.  When I got about 5 miles, closer, the lightening started!!!  holy crap.  For those that don't know South FLorida and A1A, there is nothing but large homes on the road, so there was basically nothing for me to hide under.  I actually screamed my head off when one lightening and thunder snap happened.  I jsut kept saying "I don't want to die"  I must have looked like a lunatic!

Have you considered riding in front of a tornado?

Yeah the storms here and FL can get pretty ridiculous really fast. About 2 weeks ago I was out riding and had the same crazy black clouds you were describing come out of nowhere. As I was heading back I was I had a STRONG tailwind I guess as the storm front was moving in. I hit a sustained 28 MPH in the flats when I normally average 20 or 21. It was actually kinda cool going that fast and not even exerting that much effort. Glad you made it back OK.

I almost lost my coffee on that one.

All I could picture was someone in the aero position and the wicked witch of the West theme.

I had a dog jump across the road at mile 70 in Bumblefock, WI this weekend.  That was a nice impromptu interval session with added profanity and spitting and what not.  Maybe the dogs name was Lightning?

I'm so pleased to find out there is a town (or race?) called Bumblefock!

Dogs and Lightning... both scary. I miss A1A and the beach smells on my rides. Glad you made it in OK.

I am sure  that is helpful as well....but I am in the midst of hurricane season, so rain is a daily happenning here in hte afternoon/early evening.  I wish I could change my workuots to the morning, but that ain't happenin'  I need ot learn to read a weather report..I was truly the only one on teh road on a bike yesterday..hmmm...do the others know something I don't?

Thanks everyone..totally learned my lesson ...rain, ok..lightening bad..no ride
