Pre-race routine:

This was my first triathlon and I barely slept. Got out of bed at 4 a.m and headed to the site. ATe a banana and rice cake with a cup of coffee. Had a power bar 1 hour before the start of the race
Event warmup:

Streched and swam to the first bouy
Swim

Comments:

I cut the bottom of my foot going down the chute. I thought I had a splinter. I couldnt see without my glasses.... I Shook it off and did the swim. I was thrilled with my swim. I had done alot of open water swim practice with my son who would go out on his surf board and act as my "bouy" and my coach. Many might have heard my son"cheering" on the bridge one mile before the end of the race. He is very encouraging (not to mention loud)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!!!!!

I'm glad you found my son to be encouraging!!! I think his experience as a spectator at this event was more fun than he had anticipated!!!! I have sat for years at his sporting events and I think he was paying back in full all at once!!!!

Great job with your first triathlon. You rocked the swim! I saw and heard your son on the  bridge and remember saying out loud "how cool is that" to the women running next to me. Awesome to get such great support and encouragement from him. Its a lucky girl who finds her way to him some day

Congrats triathlete!
