davidb - 2007-10-04 8:32 AM So what's the final word on wetsuits? Do I even bother packing it tonight?
I'm packing mine, just in case. As I hate cold water. Better safe than sorry. As for the rain, it's not going to rain. And even if it does, there's no way it will rain for 8 hours (how long I'll be racing!).

I packed mine too. I have the thing, might as well.

I think you and I will have an opportunity for a nice long conversation on Sunday.

You wanna talk to ME? Or davidb?

david will be done long before you and I.

All I have to say to him is he better leave us something in the food tent.

I'm stressed but not about the race.  The race is small potatoes.  I'm hoping to pull out of the depression long enough to enjoy the race tho.

Bring your wetsuits, wear what you train in, eat what you are used too, and don't stress about it.  It's going to be a fun weekend regardless of our performance.  Be safe on the travels and see everyone this weekend!

Oh, I KNOW! I just hope someone is around when I'm done. Seeing that I'll be racing close to 8 hours, everyone will probably be packed up and gone home by the time I'm done.

I'll be around. Even if I get lucky and surprise myself with my finish time, I'll hang around. Most likely, though, I'll be back there with you.

I'm there all day. I'll most likely be at the finish when you come across. Remember to look good for the cameras when you cross.

Well, if you go to dinner on Sat. night, I'll know who to wave to on the course!

I hope I find some nice chatty people to walk with on the "run" portion. It's going to be a PARTY with me for those 13 miles!

SWEET! I'm totally going to rock the swim now.

Now, we just have to hope that nothing gets up our noses and eats our brains out.

Right there with you Karen!  I think one of the issues I had with motion sickness at Lonestar was because of the extra bouyancy from the wetsuit.  I wear earplug now which help a lot but am glad there is no wetsuit.  Plus, last time I wore it, I forgot to bodyglide my arms.  I chaffed so bad i had to run like a chicken with my elbows sticking out.  Sucked for 6 miles, I can't imagine having to do it for 13.  See ya there!!

Just a heads up for all of those heading that direction. I don't know if this has been mentioned in the other threads or not... Remember what is going on in Dallas tomorrow.. TX OU Weekend.. might want to get out early before traffic.

And.. my sister in law was driving up from Austin today and NB 35 near Hillsboro, was shutdown for construction for about 4-5 miles. She wasn't paying attention... so I don't know if this is affecting SB.... you might want to check or plan to spend a lot of time on the road....

Have a safe trip...and see you on Sunday..

Wishing you all a good race. It is amazing to see the long list of BTers doing the HIM. I like that so many women are doing it and many their first HIM!

May you all have a super race!

I had thought of doing it...pull was great but I'm doing one Sunday in NJ that we can drive to & my family can come..I'm the only BTer out of 165 doing the HIM...Oly and Du going on at same time. So lonely compared to the great races Keith puts on.

Well the good thing for us leaving on Fri/Sat is that everyone is coming UP from Austin.

Then everyone is leaving Dallas on Sun probably going back down to Austin. You should miss the traffic though, as you will be coming down before the drunks drag themselves out of bed.

Just touched Decker Lake---water is warm as bathwater.  Leave the wetsuits at home.  And by the way, this Chicago chic is not afraid those hills after driving the course today.

Good luck to all.

Hey y'all. Glad I've been training in San Antonio this Summer, when I wasn't in Hawaii or NYC or Colorado Springs or Tucson. Everyone is talking wetsuits or not for the swim and "hills" on the bike. What is going to kick your butt is Sunday's heat and humidity on the run. From noon to 3pm it will feel like 94 degrees, at least when I will be doing the run! Forget wetsuits and hills on the bike--hhmmm....what was that "nutration" (I like to makeup words) i.e. nutrition and hydration plan for the run???????? I'm excited to see y'all--I'll be the 50 yr old "geriatric" in US Air Force Academy tri suit (USAFA Class of 79)--my first HIM before my first IM at IMAZ Phoenix Apr 13, 2008--yep--it's 5am and I'm up already. Watching my daughter, USAFA Class of 2007 finish her first IM, IMAZ last April, I'm so hooked to tri--this is the thing for me!! Glad I finally found the Sports love of my life, even if not until age 50!!!

Keith, great race and an instant classic.  We should be talking about the weather conditions for many years to come.  Thanks for being so responsive leading up to the race and over delivering on expectations.

Great job everybody getting through a tough day.
