Run
  • 2h 18m 42s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

well this is where the wheels came off.. my strongest leg of the event turned out to be a mess. my goal sub 7:30 pace for the run with first mile being around 7:45 to get loose. mile one was 7:15, feeling great. first aid station drank a little water and a little gatoraide... .25 miles later vomitting on side of road. walked the next quarter. started to feel better. started running again and about .5 mile nausea returned. this battle went on the rest of the race. a lot of walking so instead of a 1:35ish half i ran(walked) a 2:18.
What would you do differently?:

not sure... i took in plenty of nutrition on the bike so not sure what went wrong with the run, was not too hot so it was not a heat factor. back to drawing board with my nutrition.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

nausea on the run..

Event comments:

Sorry to hear about your bad run experience, but it sounds like you have a pretty good attitude about it. You had a great swim and bike and a great overall time in my opinion. No matter what, you still finished a half-ironman triathlon... no small feat! Congrats!

That must of been painful on the run.  Nice job finishing though... and beating my best effort by 2 minutes.
