Total Time = 2h 08m 40s
Overall Rank = 566/724
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 118/140
Event warmup:

Walking and muscle stretching.
Swim
  • 23m 15s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

I got passed by HALF of the wave that was coming behind me. Very slow going for me here, but I swallowed very little water!! This is a good thing. Overall I was very happy with my performance, I might have been slow, but I swam freestyle the whole way, with no breaks.
What would you do differently?:

Need to focus on my breathing more, and keeping my head down. That should help me pick up my pace.
Transition 1
  • 04m 18s
Comments:

Glad that I didn't have to change clothes or remove a wetsuit, just ran into the bike station, threw on my shoes and socks (I really should get cycling pedals and shoes).
What would you do differently?:

Spend less time finding my bike station (should have checked to see where the swim in entrance was. Silly rookie mistake.)
Bike
  • 1h 04m 58s
  • 15.53 miles
  • 14.34 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Next time around I need to be sure and check out the course beforehand, and add in some hill work to my training. That cut a good 2 mph off of my usual biking pace. Also, getting a road bike outfitted for racing would be good...
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Had an easier time finding my rack this go around. Legs slightly jelly like...
What would you do differently?:

Need to be quicker.
Run
  • 34m 12s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m  min/mile
Comments:

Legs were a little jelly like to start with. Ended up taking a one minute walk break just past the 1.5 mile mark.
What would you do differently?:

Wouldn't take that break, and I would also push myself a little more in the beginning. I had a pretty goo negative split going, with my final 1.5 miles going MUCH quicker then my first 1.5. I'd rather have a more steady pace though I could have picked it up a bit more to begin with.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked, then massage!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mountain bike (no biking shoes or decent pedals). And not enough swim training. I could easily shave ten minutes from my time with better bike equipment, and pushing myself more in the run could knock off another ten as well. Also, rookie mistakes in transition, I should be able to cut that time in half. More training on the swim might shave a minute or two off as well. By this race next year I could easily knock 20-25 minutes off of my total time.

Hi

I know about being passed by waves behind me - so it's okay.  Just keep at it, see if you can get in open water swim practices.

T1 - yeah it means just setting up and doing a few practices at home.  I have seen people take that time to get themselves together after a swim.

This sport has people coming in it at all different levels, and plenty to learn with each person.

Congrats for finishing...that is another finish under your belt and it sounds like it was a good women's race.

show us our new/er bike when you get it.

"it sounds like it was a good women's race."

I really think it was. Very well organized, with a LOT of support for the racers. Plus, yummy food and a massage tent at then end. Really couldn't have asked for more :-D

"show us our new/er bike when you get it."

I'm shopping around for a decent used one, but I don't anticipate having one before the winter holidays. I'm sure I'll post pics though!! Thanks for the comments :-D
