Sunny
Total Time = 1h 15m 11s
Overall Rank = 16/234
Age Group = Military
Age Group Rank = 2/10
Pre-race routine:

Usual stuff bowl of cereal with cut up bannana and a cup of coffee
Event warmup:

Ran a mile with some pickups to race pace. Pretty much the same thing on the bike.
Swim
  • 16m 40s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

This course was long. No doubt about it. Rough estimate was probably about 200 meters longer than advertised. Other than that I can't complain. I stayed on course and was comfortable the whole time. Caught some previous waves and had to navigate around them. Went 2 minutes faster than the last time I raced here. And it was shorter last time.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster!
Transition 1
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

This was my fastest T1 ever! Fastest in my age group and in military division and fourth fastest overall. I'm really happy with that since I had so much trouble before. Practice really does help.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. It worked out perfect.
Bike
  • 35m 48s
  • 13 miles
  • 21.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Went a little bit faster than last time. Caught 1st place at lap 3 and put a little bit of time into him. Course was sketchy in the turns. Felt my rear go out a couple of times, but luckily didn't hit the floor.
What would you do differently?:

Not alot. Fastest bike split in my division. I'd like to go faster, but I'd have to put in alot more effort that I should be putting somewhere else (i.e. swim).
Transition 2
  • 00m 36s
Comments:

T2 was almost phenomenal for me. I knew 2nd place was coming up on me hard and I knew he could run. So no messing around. I wanted as much time going into the run as possible. Fastest T2 in military and age group and second fastest overall. Faster than the overall winner and he's a pro. Makes me happy.
What would you do differently?:

Not a thing! Absolutely chuffed with this.
Run
  • 21m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

This is slow. My legs were a little cooked for the first mile, but settled into a decent pace. I really need to get faster in the run. I guess I'll get faster over time, but I don't want to wait. I really shouldn't be complaining though cuz I've only been running for about a year. I just wish I was quick.
What would you do differently?:

Work on short course speed
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing really took in some fluid and a ate a bannana. Walked around and waited for some friends to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of short course speed. Slow swimming and running.

Event comments:

I'm really happy with my transitions and my bike. But man I want to be running 18 minute 5k's off the bike. After the Ascent I'll really focus on some shorter distance speed. I know I'm capable of it. I just haven't devoted enough time to it. This was last the sprint tri for the year for me and I really had no expectations other than gaining some experience. I figured I would I use this year as a learning year, come back next year and hopefully stomp. We'll see. Harvest Moon is coming up next month and that will be it for me. I'll probably do some Fall running races and call it a year.

Great race for having "no speed".  You rocked the transitions and 16 th overall - fantastic.
