I know the image of ballroom dancing is that it is a bit, well, gay (not there's anything wrong with that) but all of the guys and gals I know who dance are fairly normal people.

so gay people aren't normal? just careful what you type it can be offensive, even if you didn't mean it to be which you probabaly didn't!

love homocop xx

Point taken, but you'll notice I didn't say anything about "homo". I said "gay'; check the dictionary. Anyway, if someone wants to make some good-natured fun of us stiff and stolid heteros with our bland clothes and cheap haircuts, I can take what I dish out. But you should see the beautiful dancing shoes I bought. They're to die for. Not kidding

homo = gay. and if you are using gay in a derogatory sense whatever the dictionary says it is offensive.

gripe over. btw my da is a great dancer and i admire anybody who can dence - enjoy!

I dance like Kevin James in the movie "Hitch." That is the extent of my talent.

Okay, maybe I didn't think through my choice of terminology very carefully but I wasn't intending to derogate anyone, just acknowledging the reality that when most hetero guys think of ballroom dancing, "gay" is what they think of and it turns them off. Big mistake fellas. When I think of ballroom, I think of nice-looking ladies in beautiful clothes and expensive perfume, sometimes mere inches away from me or even in close contact (hold on a sec, I'm hyper. hyper. ventil. at. ing). But homo or hetero, who cares? Go dance.

... So, I'm sure you could teach me more than a thing or two when it comes to ballroom!

Mandi, I would really love the chance.

And for the really beautiful passionate stuff, in my mind you can't beat a waltz. I know the waltz music tends to be a bit cheesy but the dance itself, when done well with sweep and flow and balance, is truly a beautiful thing.

I'm a bellydancer, but I've also tinkered with Afro-Haitian, ballet, tap, and jazz. I want to try Irish, Scottish, modern, hip-hop, and pretty much anything else :-)

I used to take gogo dance lessons twice a week... in a very sketchy studio in nyc above a peepshow place on the outskirts of times square.

Recently cut it due to massive IM training, will pick up again in the fall after IMLOU. :D
