Run
Transition 1
Swim
Comments: This was a good swim for me. I actually did a bit of drafting. I stayed calm throughout and did well with my breathing. Woo hoo! What would you do differently?: Maybe be more assertive at the buoys. I lost some time trying not to get in a tangle around the first buoy. Transition 2
Comments: I took a meclazine this time, and that helped with the dizziness. I pushed the end of the swim a little harder, so I was a little more fatigued in transition. Run
Comments: Oh man, did I die on this run. Painful, painful, painful. I had to walk 3 times. I'd been fighting a stomach bug all week, and my guts cramped almost immediately on the run. Combine that with the lack of food and I just had nothing to give. Ah well. I briefly considered not even finishing. When I hit the hill about 1/4 mile in and my arms started to ache I thought - what the heck am I doing. But, I persisted. It ended up not being sooooo bad time-wise. The people doing this race just tend to be fast. What would you do differently?: Um...not be sick? Post race
Warm down: Chatted with some people I met at the race, hosed myself off with cold water, drank some water and gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: This darn virus, the heat, and generally not doing enough running this year. Last updated: 2007-08-10 12:00 AM
