Pre-race routine:

Ok to start, the night before I went out for dinner. BIG bowl of pasta, yum.

Race day....Woke up at 6:15 since I was staying only at the top of the lake. Ate, showered, got dressed, and was out the door with my sister at 7:00. I conned her into getting some high school volunteer hours. arrived at 7:05, I drove myself, and got registered. SINGLE DIGIT BIB NUMBER FOLKS!! It's cool to be young, #8. Then chewed the fat with the eventual race winner and my buddy. Met up with Jon (jonow6) and talked for a bit, then got changed and got on the bike.
Event warmup:

Did about 8k I think on the bike. I am loving that Giro Advantage 2 helmet. Like the cool factor is *waaaaay up here*. Then I went and tested the water temperature. The friday before hand I went to Wasaga Beach for the day, where the water is known for its warmth. SAME TEMPERATURE! So I decided to pass on the wetsuit. Then I dropped off my boardshorts and when to the water.
Swim
  • 23m 9s
  • 1000 meters
  • 02m 18s / 100 meters
Comments:

Not really much to say about the swim except that I probably should have worn the wetsuit. Energy in my "bad" shoulder, for lack of a better term, so speed wasn't exactly consistent. There were sections I thought I was flying and others where I thought I was going to sink.
What would you do differently?:

Wear the wetsuit.
Transition 1
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

No suit so my transition was freaking awesome. In and out, no questions asked.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing since there wasn't a wetsuit to deal with.
Bike
  • 57m 29s
  • 34 kms
  • 35.49 km/hr
Comments:

I felt this was a pretty good bike ride. Faster than last year for sure, but a lot harder since I haven't been putting in the same mileage. I stuck with the same 3 people for most of the bike. We battled it out pretty good, to them I owe that bike split to. I really started to hurt at the end though. That helmet freakin rocks though.
What would you do differently?:

Put in some good mileage during the season?
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Good Transition again. Not much else to say really.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 40m 27s
  • 7 kms
  • 05m 47s  min/km
Comments:

Now here is where the problems started. about kilometer 2 I started having that painful feeling again that I was oh-so-familiar with back in Guelph. Cramping in the intercoastals (muscles between the ribs). This time it hurt more than Guelph, but this time it came and went so I couold get some running in at least. It subsided by the second turn around but the damage had been done. Jordan finishes another race, but as far as results go the song remains the same.
What would you do differently?:

Everything.
Post race
Warm down:

Tried to keep upright, and considered seeing the medical tent again.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramping, and lack of training, injuries earlier in the year.
