Event comments:

This is an outstanding event in an area that is really ripe with triathletes. I have done this race all three years and it keeps getting better. (the first year was my very first triathlon) The swim is a lake swim with clear, clean water without a glare(tough to do at this time of day and changed for the better since last year) BTW, no wet suits as the water temp was 80.2 at race time. While I'm not a huge fan of the bike course, a double loop on the same road, I understand why it is done since there are really no other options. It is easy to get going fast and it has some good hills to test you a bit. It is smooth, in great condition and closed to cars. The run is shaded and in great condition. Overall a great race for all in the area. The only thing that might be changed for the better in my eyes would be re locating the food tent and awards area so that a presentation area would be possible allowing for better viewing and hanging around after the event (not that I'll ever win anything but....) The staff and director, Dale Winteroff, deserve a great deal of credit for taking this event so far in only 3 years!
As for my performance...Overall, In spite of a really slow swim and what I felt was a slow run I improved by more than 20 minutes over last year so I can't complain too much.
Thanks Dale!

Short and sweet. Nice job today. I hate to admit it, but I wanted to smirk a little when I picked up your swim cap. I've never caught any of you before...

I had such a lousy swim...I wanted to do something about the jersy but short of jamming it into my shorts i didn't know what else to do with it. Life is a series of learning lessons.

But you made up for it with a kicking bike and a great run. You dusted me on the hill out of T1- what more do you want? you want me to fall so you can rub my face in the gravel? Would that make you happy?

I don't want to see your face in the gravel! Unless you are ahead of me perhaps.
I think the ride was pretty good. could have been a bit faster but not too bad. I was really dissapointed with my run. Something to work on in the next 2 weeks.
I think being under the weather had a lot to do with it but I think that my limited training for speed since before IMLP was the primary cause.

Way to stick with it after a bad swim.  I agree that the race has gotten better year after year.  Well, I just did it last year and it was WAY better.

Good job overall on the race.

Hey there, thanks for the note. looks like you tore it up out there! I get better with nearly every race. I took some major steps back with this one but in general have been improving steadily. This year was all about IMLP and distance. Now that i know what to expect I'll be working more on speed.
Best of luck,
Steve
