Road to event, walked around, easy run and some streaching
Swim
  • 06m 40s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt much better about this swim because I was more comfortable in this enviroment. Practice OWS and if possible do it with a group. Tried drafting but I was swimming faster than most people.
What would you do differently?:

Could have taken wa few more steps into water before diving because I scraped my knees and top of feet; ouch. Be quicker about decision to stop drafting and pass them. If I touch your feet 2x I'm going over or around you.
Transition 1
  • 03m 43s
Comments:

I'm a slow runner and it was a good distance from water to T1. Attempted bike start with shoes clipped in. Need more practice.
What would you do differently?:

Get used to not wearing socks.
Bike
  • 42m 56s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Murphy's Law bike computer took a dump on me before race so I had no info. That's 2x now.
What would you do differently?:

Get a knew computer.
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
What would you do differently?:

Not take my feet out of cycling shoes as early. Just did it out of my own lack of experience in race conditions.
Run
  • 32m 6s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

Please with it and about what I expected. But again it took about 2 miles before my breathing was good and I relaxed.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on my run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around, lite streching and an easy bike ride home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Generating power during bike and I'm just a slow runner.

Hi!

I was in the same age group as you! Nice job with your race! Wow, you had an awesome swim time and your bike time wasn't too far off of mine. I got 47th in our age group if you want to see my times. I have to make a report soon, but I am having more fun reading everyone else's reports!

I tried to practice the shoes clipped into the pedals thing at home a few weeks before the tri and I was failing miserably. My neighbors where looking at me funny when I was running down the street with my bike, barefoot, and trying to get my feet into my shoes. I don't know how the pros do it...I was making a fool of myself and falling, getting my shoes stuck, scrapping them on the ground, so I gave up. It doesn't make that much of a difference...oh well.

You might want to invest in a GPS unit instead of a cycle computer...they seem to be more reliable for me.

Anyhow...great race!!
