Age Group Rank = 48/97
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 2:45 and picked up a buddy for the ride to Boulder. Got to Boulder at 4:30 just like the race director said not to do. Luckily, there was a meteor shower so we watched that waiting for transition to open.
Event warmup:

Minimal stretching, lots of porta potty visits.
Swim
  • 37h 02m
  • 2112 yards
  • 1h 45m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

Fairly uneventful..Started in the middle and didn't find room to swim until the 3rd bouy.
Transition 1
  • 02m 17s
Comments:

I love my T1 wetsuit but it's tough to get unzipped when your arms are tired and shoulder pumped up from the swim as it zips from bottom to top. I almost had to ask someone for assistance.
What would you do differently?:

Extend the zipper cord on the wetsuit.
Bike
  • 2h 36m 56s
  • 56 miles
  • 21.41 mile/hr
Comments:

Came across Ben near the end of the ride, didn't realize it was him until I heard him yell my name.

My best ride in a long time. Super fast course...Would've averaged 40 mph but stopped at the bikini aid station for a half hour each loop.
What would you do differently?:

Stopped at the bikini aid station for 1 hour each loop.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Run
  • 2h 08m 39s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

This is where my missed training took its toll. I felt ok but did the 1st mile just over 9 minute pace and new it was going to be a long run. Who knew twins and 7 months of sleep deprivation would affect training?

Saw Ben again.

Asked several locals where the bikini aid station was...no one knew.
Post race
Warm down:

Felt like doodoo after the race...couldn't decide if I should throw up before I passed out. Luckily, neither happened.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Considering my drastic life change, I was pleasently surprised with my race.

Event comments:

Nice race, well organized.

Ran into Mark as I was leaving...he looked better than me.

Great race!  Especially fast bike given all the time you spent at the Bikini aid station each loop!  Good thing they did not have one of those on the run too!

Good job.  looking forward to seeing you at the fall frenzy and meeting those twins.  My abigail (1 year) will be there too.  Interesting how they change so fast.  And yes, it is a valid excuse for missing training.

Great job, especially with new twins.  That run was hard for all of us.  I believe I saw you standing on the beach right as my wave started.

Congrats and see you at Fall Frenzy
