Comments:

First pool swim event, dipping under the lane ropes was a little awkward at first. The swim when pretty much as expected, passed a couple of people and was only passed by one.
What would you do differently?:

Learning to flip turn would probably help in pool swim events.

Comments:

This was my first event with my clipless pedals, running/jogging with the bike with bike shoes worked out better than I had expected. I guess my drive way and garage have smother concrete, because I didnt slip as much in transition as I do walking up the driveway and in my garage.
What would you do differently?:

Try bike shoes without socks, this may save a few seconds, getting socks on wet feet can be a hassle.
Bike

Comments:

Was a little windy this morning. Was hoping to average around 20mph but the wind was a bit of an issue, plus my bike computer was not picking up my cadence, so had to do without that information, and that also worked against me. MPH was working fine, just the cadence was not reading, hit 35+ mph down the first hill on Main St. on both loops. Think this is my first event where I passed more people then passed me on the bike.

My bike computer had my average right at 19 mph, but based on the time I am down just below 18 mph so either the course was long or my bike computer is all jacked up. When I map out the course online I get a distance of 12.7 miles, which is more inline with what my computer was reading.

edited bike course distance to 12.75.
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

T2 took a little longer than in previous events because I had to change shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Practice getting out of my shoes before the dismount line and leaving them in the pedals.
Run

Comments:

Felt a little bloated for the first mile and a half, guess maybe I drank to much gatorade on the bike, but was able to pick up the pace a little during the last mile or so.

Bit disappointed in my run was hoping to be in the 7:30 pace range, but all the run times looked a little slower. Really need to get one of the Garmin GPS units.

Great job!  Consenses from those I've talked with seemed to be about 12.7-12.8 miles for the bike. I also wondered if the run was long.  Maybe someone with a Garmin will pipe up.  (Or I'll gmap it.)
