since this is a fairly health conscience group, i thought it would be interesting to see where people get their food.

I love food, so just about anywhere. Lots of local farmer's markets and produce stands, our own garden (all 15 square yards of it), a couple local "natural food" stores (sorry, tofu burgers are sooooo processed, but sooo yummy - it's just that it cracks me to call it natural food)... But, I like some of the stuff that they have at Costco in the way of meats and cheeses. Plus, there are some great little Puertorican grocery stores in Lancaster too (yes, the Amish Lancaster - hehe Puertorican Amish, that's funny).

Most of my food comes from a local grocery store that also has a natural food section. Things I eat in bulk like pastas, rice and cereals/oatmeal I buy at Whole Foods. Some food from the warehouse store when I have to get warehouse store stuff....

A lot of my vegies come from my own garden, otherwise a local farmer's market gets my business.. Meat/eggs I get from a fella I used to work with (he now has a farm) and he delivers !! (Sorry guys - this town only!)

My wife is friends with an Amish farmer in Lancaster county Pennsylvania.  Every two weeks, he personally delivers free range chickens and raw milk products to our home.  My wife then distributes it to some of our neighbors.

The milk is not pasteurized or homogonized, comes in glass bottles and tastses fantastic.  The kids love it when "Farmer Alvin" comes to visit.  The Amish generally don't drive, so he has a friend drive him into Philadelphia.

I put down chain grocery store but my wife and I buy fruits and vegetables from the city's farmer's market, Italian food from an Italian food specialty store, and the rest from "Loblaw's", a grocery store chain.

Machiavelo,

Good call. The only time I would ever get Italian food is from a specialty store. Growing up full Italian I got spoiled on such good food. Nothing form a chain can compare.

Staples and stuff I get from Dominicks or Meijer ( chain grocery stores ).

I try to get as much as I can though from Trader Joe's / Whole Foods, but I also like to get *good* fresh food. What can I say, I'm a food snob.
