Swim
Comments: Felt pretty good about this, working really hard. I think I was the second woman in the mini distance out of the water. I'll have to check the results to be sure-I got passed by one lady on the run to TA, so she'll probably have a faster overall swim time. I'm also wondering if the swim course was a bit short...if it wasn't, well, that's pretty cool. What would you do differently?: Practice swim exit and run up to TA, pick up the pace a little bit. Transition 1
Comments: Okay, kept fiddling with a water bottle that kept falling over, just should have left it. What would you do differently?: See above :) Bike
Comments: This was a really tough ride for me. My legs just didn't feel like they were working well on this familiar course. I think it was due to the fatigue from the cold and also nutrition. I only drank 10 oz of Infinit the whole ride. Stupid. I did have two gels, but that's not enough calories. I should have had over 24 oz of the infinit. I was working really hard on this ride, and down in my aerobars quite a bit, so I just don't think I was concentrating on nutrition as much as I should have. It led to a bit of stomach distress on the bike. Overall, okay with the ride though, except for the stupid nutrition mistake. I did get to practice a bottle hand-off. Grabbed it with no problems :) What would you do differently?: Not enough fluids-drink more, take in more calories. Transition 2
Comments: I realized about 10 miles into the bike that I'd forgotten to set out my socks with my running shoes...so I was debating for a part of the ride on what I should do-just try running without socks? Or take the time to reach over the fence, grab my bag and find my socks. Decided it was worth it to get the socks. So took the extra time to find them. What would you do differently?: Remember socks. Practice dismount and run to rack. This was slow and funky. Run
Comments: Strted out really slow and sluggish, I think I was still trying to recover from the nutrition deficit on the bike. But I started taking in calories and electrolytes and the last 3 miles was actually better than the first three. That never happens. I wish I had my mile splits. Felt good with the run-especially considering I thought I was going to walk the majority of it. My Time for this race last year was 3:27. This year: 3:12. 15 minutes better, so overall happy with this race! Every race is a great learning experience for me. What would you do differently?: Better nutrition on bike. Start taking in calories sooner? More Bricks (as I say every time...) Post race
Warm down: Walked around, changed and watched some of the half IM finishers. Drank lots of fluids-water, gatorade and recovery drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cold is still hanging on. Fatigue from last week. Nutrition mess up. Event comments: Little disappointed with HFP this time. I'm questioning some of their distances. Each wave started late. And, the food after was terrible. No two ways about it. It was pretty sad. Race price increase, food quality goes down? I also thought they might have had one more aid station on the run. This felt like a very thrown together race-don't usually get that from HFP. Hopefully just a one time thing, because I really like this course. Last updated: 2007-07-18 12:00 AM

Alarm was set for 5:45, but woke up about 3:45 and just kind of dozed until alarm went off. Ate oatmeal and bananna, part of a slice of bread and pb. Cup of tea.
Drove to race site.
Setting up TA, walking to bathroom :) Got in water even though it was definitely a chilly start, swam a few strokes, loosened up shoulders
