Sunny
Total Time = 1h 16m 6s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 15/26
Pre-race routine:

We got to Cordele on Friday and dropped the girls off with my parents. Having my parents there really made it fun. In the morning, drank some coffee and ate a cliff bar.
Event warmup:

No warm up. I wanted to save it all for the swim...
Swim
  • 11m 20s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was not my best effort. It was a crowded start and I took a couple kicks to the head. I ended up doing the breast stroke for the first 150 yds. After that it started to spread out, but I couldn't swim with my head under water. I kept thinking about swimming into someone. So, I breast stroked the whole thing. At least now I know what is the slowest swim I could possibly do.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try freestyle? I hear it's faster.
Transition 1
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

I think I did good here. I need to get it down below 1 munute.
What would you do differently?:

I need to focus on quick efficient movements.
Bike
  • 37m 50s
  • 13.6 miles
  • 21.57 mile/hr
Comments:

After my terrific swim, I gave myself a motivational speech (cursing)while I ran to the transition area. I rode hard to try and make up some time. I struggled at first with passing, but once I got in the open I turned it up.
What would you do differently?:

Pass slower riders quicker and focus on being in the aero position as much as possible.
Transition 2
  • 00m 33s
Comments:

I used cage pedals so I already had my running shoes on. I ditched the bike and started running.
Run
  • 25m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

I lost my Garmin Forerunner before the race and really missed it in the run. I had no idea how I was doing and just ran at the pace of the people around me. I had trained to run about 2 minutes faster, but didn't do a good job of getting on the correct pace.
What would you do differently?:

Find the Garmin. Push myself more.
Post race
Warm down:

I went out on the course to find my parents and my daughters. Cheered for my wife and friends as they came in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming breaststroke and losing my Garmin.

Event comments:

This is a great race. I hope they add it to the Tri the parks series. Ga Multisport did a great job.

Great race - it was great to see you guys! You held over 21 mph with cages on your pedals - my gosh! You need to get some clipless pedals and really see what you can do!

Congrats on a great race!!
