KSH - 2007-08-24 3:39 PM  Since that race, I purchased the Zoot Zenith. A top of the line wetsuit. I haven't raced in it yet. Again, maybe my times will be smoking fast and I'll be in awe of my wetsuit swimming abilities.

..sigh... have you trained with it in the pool for any signficant distance? You can't just zip it up on raceday and expect to have some magical effect.

But as it stands, I hate swimming in one and it doesn't help me very much.

as soon as you figure out that it can knock 5-10s per 100 from your race times, you won't hate it quite so much!

Well, I did some pool swimming with the wetsuit, but having to push off the wall really affected the fit. My goal would be to practice OWSing with it.

Maybe if I got an opportunity to practice in it, it would work for me and not against me.

Honestly, I don't care THAT much. I know, shocking.

I already place top 4 in my AG out of the water. And my run is so pathetically slow, it doesn't really matter if I place 1st in my AG out of the water, because I lose it all on the run.

So... I think it's fair to say we have beaten this horse to death with way too much detail and thought put into it.

Have a great weekend everyone! Especially those RACING in IRONMAN KENTUCKY! You are going to rock it!

Wet suits are always fatser. I f someone isn't faster in a suit, they have an ill fitting suit or have not learned to use it properly. It's simply a tool and needs to be practiced with to get the best results. Professional triathletes wear them always when legal. There's a reason for that and it's not because they don't work.

Regarding IMKY, this swim is going to be very difficult and I feel bad for the participants, not because they can't wear wet suits, but the start format and the water conditions are really crummy.

And because it is going to warm in the air and in the water, and because they have to swim in the Ohio river ...... people were already talking about having to avoid trash on their warm-up swims ...... yuck!!! ;-P

And Fred, I was not addressing the KY water temps with regard to wetsuits - they are not allowed (unless you do not want to go for any sort of aG placing or slots - that is usually what they will allow - but in 85 degree water that is just asking to be baking!), I was talking about swims in general.  I seemed to notice you had yours on at Eagleman ......

Hey, no feeling bad for anyone here. Bryan, I am using your IMAZ philosophy tomorrow...the swim issues and the heat are everyone else's problem. I am here to race.

And you'll be more of an Ironman for it.

This swim course is appearing to make this IM that much more of a challenge.

Everyone should put a smile on their face and be glad the IM corp has put thot into course changes well before the morning of. (Went to IM NZ in 2006 and it was cancelled morning of due to waves on the lake. I trained in rougher water. It was like watching a circus with the race directors as they scrambled to grasp the idea of a course change. So they just cancelled the IM. Now that was a WTF???? event.)

Take the bull by the horns -- ITS AN IRONMAN not a neighborhood 10K!

Best of luck to all!
