Recreational Activities Possible Near Reservoir

Published: Aug 21, 2007

LITHIA - The Southwest Florida Water Management District, which owns the land surrounding the C.W. Bill Young Reservoir in southeast Hillsborough County, will hold a workshop to discuss recreational opportunities at the site, called Chito Branch Reserve.

The workshop is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 29 in the cafeteria of Pinecrest Elementary School, 7950 Lithia-Pinecrest Road.

The water management district bought about 4,100 acres to accommodate the 15 billion-gallon reservoir, operated by regional supplier Tampa Bay Water. District officials say they are contemplating activities such as hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, wildlife observation and picnicking in areas surrounding the reservoir.

For information, call Gina Sowders in the district's land resources department, 1-800-423-1476, Ext. 4464.

ummm... sounds more like a MTB trail type thing, but I would like to see something similiar to Flatwoods.  A while back they talked about a route that connects several others yet to be built... but that one is way off.
