Subject: What do you eat before IM Race?
I am doing my first IM at Madison - most races or before my morning workout - I eat PButter on whole wheat diet bread and cup of coffee to the race or to the lake,etc.

I notice after reading several articles alot of tri/runners drink ensure early in the morning before a race and sometimes go back to bed for a few hours...

So I am working on my breakfast program for Madison - any suggestions??

only do this IF you have tried it during training, other wise what Bryan said

I have a Cliff Bar right when I get up and some coffee and another an hour before the race. That's how I train as well.

wheat bagel with nutella (the healthy version though ) + apple juice. Sometimes I'll skip all and just drink one ensure. (I eat the same way through training).

I concur with the don't try anything new.  My IM CDA plan was the following--

8:00 pm Dinner was chinese (nothing spicy, heavy on the salted rice)
10:00 pm  Ensure and lights out
1:00 am Ensure
4:00 am  PB bagel, banana, ensure, full water bottle 
6:00 am  Half clif bar, sports drink
6:45 am  Gel

I practiced this prior and knew that it would give me enough calories to safely make it onto the bike.

Wake up about 4 AM.  Have 2 cans of Boost.  Coffee.  Water.  At about 4:45-5:00, another can of Boost.  Get to transition ~5:15.  Between then and race start, I'll sip water and/or sports drink.  Then, one shot of gel with water at about 6:45.

To be honest, my stomach usually doesn't feel all that great while it's working on digesting those calories.  But, by 5:30-6 AM or so, I'm usually feeling great.

Here's what I did at CDA:

4am - 1 bagel with PB&J and 1 bottle GU20
5am - 1 bagel with PB&J and 1 bottle H20
6:30am - 1 pk Sport Beans and a few sips of water

I practiced this in training and knew it worked great.

Please take the advice of eat what and how you normally eat before long training days.  I knew this fact too, but I ended up trying a 2 am meal at IM CdA which I had never done before.  I woke up on race morning feeling bloated and gassy and had GI issues all day.  NEVER again will I try anything new on race day.
