Pre-race routine:

Ate an uncrustable and diet pepsi.
Event warmup:

Running the 2 miles back and forth to packet pickup, trying to find an empty toilet (which I never did), finding Trixie (which is tricky)
Run
  • 1h 50m 47s
  • 10 miles
  • 11m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I was cold and wet. It was raining at the start and periodically during the run. I drank 1 cup of water every aid station and took a gel at mile 5 and again at 7.

I ran the first 3 miles solid, walking the aid stations, then switched to 4:1, but it wasn't working out with the aid station placement, so I ran to each station, then walked 2 minutes to drink and recover until the BIG ass hills started. I really wanted to run all 3 of the biggest ones, but only made it thru the first. My HR was pegged, so I walked up and ran down the remaining two. I was able to run all of the other rolling hills, which is an improvement over the last two years.

As I rounded the corner for the final stretch, I saw Trixie in the middle of the street whooop whoooping. Got my customary ass smack, and tried to kick it up a notch to get my PR. YEAH ME! Got it. Barely.

My legs felt the hills and I'm gonna be one sore G8R tomorrow!

There were TONS of people dropping out on the road and getting hauled away in ambulances. I have never seen so many in any race. There was one fella who stopped and had this blank stare on his face for about 10 seconds, then pooof onto the ground he went. He was super skinny and looked like one of the really fast runners, until he was face down in the pavement. Scary stuff!
What would you do differently?:

I don't know. I've run this race 3 times and gotten slightly faster each year. I thought I was gonna be prepared for the hills, but again, they got the best of me. Damn hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Got a water and went back to the car, changed and took our yearly Crim pics. This is where the SOOOOPERTRIXIE got it's start 2 years ago! WHOOOP WHOOOOP!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

same as always....hills and my slow, fat, white girl pace! :)

Event comments:

This is an awesome race with tons of volunteers, friendly people and good times! There are Krispy Kreme doughnuts and beer on the course, what more could you ask for??!!
