Pre-race routine:

go potty and eat. Ate a gel 15 min. before the swim.
Event warmup:

ride my bike downtown
  • 19m 51s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 39s / 100 meters

frickin cold water, I sprayed the anti fog liquid on my goggles but that did not help. After 50 meters my goggles were all fogged up. I could only see what was directly in front of me. I have swam what these goggles in the past so I don't know what happen.
What would you do differently?:

bring a blanket
Transition 1
  • 02m 5s

did not wear socks on bike
  • 40m 35s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 20.21 mile/hr

I wanted to hammer on the tri bike and have fun. I forze my heed drink and it did not defrost in time. What was defrosted was really cold going down. At least i was faster on the bike than last year. Must be the new Tri bike. Go Tina Go!
What would you do differently?:

go faster and not freeze my heed drink
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s

I had to catch my breath from the hammer fest on the bike and T2 . At the first water station I stopped and caught my breath and drank water. Mile 1 I have a bad habit of being to social and decide to chatt with some lady that was running at my pace. Then after mile 2 I had to excuse myself and shifted into a higher gear. I guess I could have psuh harder instead of hanging with the honeys. Overall this race was for fun.
  • 23m 54s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 41s  min/mile

slowed down a couple of times to drink water and catch my breath, my HR was way to high for to long
What would you do differently?:

run faster
Post race
Warm down:

Last year they only had 4 massage stations. This year they had about 8-10 massage stations. So I was able to get a massage quick.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did not have power for several days and was not able to train. On top of that my wife had to go to the hospital Saturday. I was not going to race today but my wife knows what a cheap I am and insisted I participate in the Triathlon. I got to see some of my Tri mates. I bumped into Christina and was alomst late to my wave while chatting with her. At the end I found my latino friend Enrique, then Liz and Tony found me at the post area. I had fun and did not train for this race so I was not stressed out.

It sounds like a pretty kickin' race regardless of whether you trained for it or not!  And socializing on top of it all?  Sounds like a fun way to spend the morning.
