the logistics for me are too good to pass up. besides, all my experiences at setup races this year have been very good. i like to support the local business whenever possible. the more people that support setup, the more successful they will be, the more races and choices we will get, the more people will race setup, rinse, repeat, etc...

it would be awesome to have a strong local ironman to cap the season off every year.

meanwhile, im trying to talk a couple of other buddies from our running group who have done a few olympic distance races and a half later this year to commit to it next year.

misery loves company

Has anybody heard any more info on the full iron distance race? The website doesn't give too much info and doesn't have any course info either. Maybe it hasn't been decided yet. I know Setup puts on great races and they use to do the Duke iron race so do you think this race will be just as good for a first year race? I am torn between trying to sign up for Ironman Florida this weekend or holding out and signing up for the Beach2Battleship. This will be my first go at that distance. I am leaning towards the B2B race.

I am torn as well but honestly since B2B is in our backyard why try to mess with the hassle of IM FL? I just did my first iron distance race a few weeks ago, the Great Floridian, and it was such a great experience. There were a little over 300 finishers and that was more then enough to not feel lonely on the field. I think with 2000+ at IM FL that would be way to much stimulus for your first IM. I know I'm glad my first one was a small one. Just my 2 cents

I've been thinking alot about this lately. I used to think that when I go for Ironman, I wanted to do a "real" Mdot race so I could get the Mdot tatoo. But, I've changed my mind. The Mdot symbolizes that you went the distance. So, I say go ahead and get the Mdot tatoo. You deserve it!

I say ink all you want.  My husband did B2B and an Mdot race & says 140.6 is 140.6 - period.  If I had done B2B I would love to get the ship logo on a tat - I thought that was cool.  Almost cool enough to make me sign up, but the 'cool' weather was enough to keep me away!!

I'm not going to get an M-dot tat. But I will probably get something that denotes the distance. I'm thinking of asking some creative design students to create one incorporating my "mouse" name, the three events, and 140.6.
