Total Time = 1h 29m 43s
Overall Rank = 55/156
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 7/18
Event warmup:

Light stretching and jogging. Short swim
Swim
  • 11m 39s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

A little slower than I had in mind, but it will suffice.
What would you do differently?:

Concentrate on breathing the same way I do when I train. For some reason, that gets all fouled up when I race.
Transition 1
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

T1 was good, but it was a hell of a long run from the swim to the transition. I actually think that was a benefit.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 36m 8s
  • 10.6 miles
  • 17.60 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was awesome. I have never done better than 15 mph on this course, so to see that I turned in 17+ made me happy. I forgot my garmin, so I was just trying to hang with the group I left T1 with.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

T2 went well. A little slower than I was hoping for, but I will take it.
What would you do differently?:

Speed laces. I forgot to change them out and that cost me 20 seconds or so.
Run
  • 39m 48s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

After T2, there was a wall, and I hit it....HARD!
Nausea hit me really hard at the start, and never really let up. Every so often I had to stop because I thought it was coming up on me. The heat today was a factor, as I am normally done running for a few hours by this time. I am really disappointed with the run, but really pleased with the rest of the race. I feel like I could have finished in the top 20 had I been able to keep my usual pace.
What would you do differently?:

Train in the heat more, so I am not surprised by it.

Event comments:

This race has really improved this year. I will be doing it every year.

Great job! Until you race in those conditions you really don't know what it is like and how much it takes out of you....I feel your pain!!!

Congrats on finishing the race!! It was hot and hilly. I heard one person comment that there was no flat portion, only up or down. Down was much better

Good job on the race! Sorry I wasn't able to find you. I ran into Gina and Chris but missed everyone else. Maybe next time!

Good job again!

I'm thinking I will do this race again too. It was not a fast course, but an adventure!

Since I'm not fast anyway - maybe I can excel at dealing with the bad conditions!
