Ok, nobody has started a thread for this race yet, so here it goes.

This will be my first tri. Has anyone who is signed up for this race done the race last year and can give me a mental picture of the t1/t2 points? Also can anyone give me a mental picture for the swim? How much does the current affect (help) the swim? Are you wearing a wetsuit?

I've personally not done this race but have heard that the swim can be pretty hard.  The waves can be difficult for you.  My suggestion would be get as much OWS practice in the waves as you can.

This is my first tri too, and yes, I am renting a wet suit. I went to a local tri store and they recommended it, since the added buoyancy will help with swimming in the ocean, which I am unaccustomed to (I tried it once and it was pretty hard). I am picking up the suit with enough time to go to my local pool and try it out, so I can get used to the feel before the race. Everyone said NOT to wear your wet suit for the first time at your event.

I am very excited about the race. Good luck!

The tricky part of the swim is just getting in/out through the waves if the surf is up. They usually det the course so the long part of the swim is with the current. T1/T2 are in the same place, both the bike and run are totally flat, run is partially on the concrete boardwalk. I'll be out there volunteering with our local club at one of the water stations.

I'll look for you. I'll be at the Coastal Racing water stop outside of transition area.
