I'm in my last week of peak volume before my HIM in 2 1/2 weeks. I'll start my taper on Monday but I find myself really struggling through my workouts this week.

I'm wondering how others have felt 3 weeks out from their race as they were at peak volume? My cardio is fine, but my legs just feel like rubber on the bike and run. Is this just part of the high volume training and will the taper bring me back to life before the race?

I'd say that's pretty normal for where you are in a training plan. You said you're at peak volume...I guess if I wasn't feeling it, I'd be more worried.  10 or so days for healing and adaptation.  Taper is going to hit you and allow for recovery so you'll be ready to ROCK your HIM.

I'm feelin' ya! I was there three weeks ago. It passed quickly but then the same crap hits again during taper so get used to it. Seriously, you should be just fine. If you're feeling really sluggish, take an unscheduled rest day if you need to. There'll be no harm to your race.

Good luck!

it is normal to feel tired coming off a peak week alrhough I schedule mine wround 5-6 weeks out of my race. yes rest and you should be back to normal. Stretching and a massage should also help
