I don't now what's more nerve wracking, being assigned a wave time or anticipating the delivery of my first pair of tri shorts today. I'm sure I'll be quite a sight with my skin tight shorts, a farmers tan and a beer gut.

Haha don't worry about it... You'll feel alot more comfortable once you realize how many other people look just as funny as we do! Those not wearing spandex are the funny looking ones at triathlons!

Jason, you look like you are going to finish before I even start.

That is the plan Scott.

I'd like to finish in 2.5 hours (and I hope it wouldn't take that long...I did all the lenghts monday and it took me 2:12 but anything can happen on race day) and get out of Whitewater at noon, to make the brewers game by about 1:05

The plan is to shoot for under hour and a half... 9 min swim, 45 min bike, 26 min run.

If I do that, thats best case scenario... Finishing under an hour and a half would be awesome! Hopefully everything goes right and the body agrees with me.

Sounds like my plan for time.

Except I have no idea with the swim, I've haven't timed my freestyle and only have a test 500 doing breaststroke at 14 minutes. The plan is to do the entire 500 freestyle, if my stroke breaks down or I take on too much water I might revert for a lap or two to b-stroke until I regain my breath.

Assuming I can at least do 14 minutes on the swim + 46 & change on the bike + 27 minutes on for the run + 4 minutes for the transitions would put me around that 1.5 hour threshold.

Yes I will be happy to finish, but completing it at or near 1:30 would be great.

Did my last swim (took it very easy,) today and felt good. At least on race day we can push off the wall 20 times.

The final wave assignments are now posted.

6B for me , If things go bad I always have the side of the pool to grab or something to bang my arm against.

Silly questions:

If i'm wearing long sleeves, are they only going to mark my legs then?

I'm assuming all the paths for running/biking will be well marked? Cuz you know, when I'm winning (hahaha) I'll need to know where to go.

Is there a race chip or something for this event? Where do i put it?

while wearing the number for the run, do they give me somehow to attatch it to me? or should i bring stuff?

being my first tri, that i'm not going all out for, I have a basic bag...

goggles, swim cap, swimsuit, towel, sunglasses, bike, helmet, and a shirt to wear for the biking part and then one for the running part...

anything i'm clearly missing?

They normally provide pins , but I woudl bring them anyway or a race belt, to pin your race number to your shirt.

I'm sure you have it covered , but I didn't see hydration listed on your post, beside something on your bike you may want something for the transitions.

Good Luck Tomorrow!

ahh yeah, hydration might come in handy. I'm assuming at such a small sprint like this they wont have much for aid stations or anything like that.

just like a single clothes pin or something? i have no race belt...

I like the comfort of four safety pins (all four corners) so the number doesn't flap around.

Geat Race! , The wind was crazy today. I ended up 8th out of 20 clydes which I happy with since it was first race. My hybrid bike didn't do me any favors as my 6'6 frame caught a lot of wind on the way back.

My run sucked, but was awake up call to ditch my pancake routes.

Well, a couple thoughts...

a) I finished
b) I didn't finish last
c) I woke up this morning (err, afternoon)

All in all, those are 3 pretty fantastic things. I'm pretty glad I was one of the first to go out because I heard the winds got really bad later in the day.

Thanks to Andrew who provided me with some much needed advice, and cooled my nerves a little bit during the race, and to Scott for the impromptu howdy as I was leaving the bike rack.

I wasn't too impressed with the race itself, as most of the volunteers had no idea what was going on...NONE of the people on the run course had any idea how far into the course they were (which would have really helped me) I passed a couple people on the bike trail who were on cell phones, and even thought I was lost once, and a couple volunteers gave my friend the wrong finish spot, so I have no pictures of my finish (or the impromptu somersault I did over the finish line)

I'll probably go back next year just to judge how far I've come...but hopefully I'll find other sprint tri's next year that I will like better.
