Run
Comments: Wore an Under Armour long sleeve under my race top but pulled if off on the run before T1. Took off at a good pace, and tried to bridge to the lead pack of 4, didn't get there but stayed close. What would you do differently?: Nothing, the run set me up pretty well. Of course I'd love to go faster. Transition 1
Comments: The cold weather made transitions a little tough, fingers were cold and slow moving with the shoes. What would you do differently?: As usual, be cleaner and more efficient. Bike
Comments: This was a tough course and my cycling is not where it could/needs to be. I got passed by a good number of people on the bike and didn't have the set up I should have. There was no need for aerobars today, and I think I need a tune up. The road was rough with some potholes that made the downhill pretty sketchy. I feel like I pushed a little more today and was able to let loose on the downhill when I'd usually be more cautious. What would you do differently?: T.I.T.S I've got to work on my cycling this off-season. Some full finger gloves would have been nice. Transition 2
Comments: Came into T2 fast, and hopped off the bike. Was carrying more speed than I thought and there was a curb I had to hop so I grabbed the bike, threw it on my should and ran into T2. Racked it up, got the numb fingers moving and the runners on. What would you do differently?: Cleaner, smoother. Run
Comments: I came out of transition and got one guy before we were out on the course. Then, within the first 200m there were 3 guys that look like they were on a Sunday jog in the park. It really looked they weren't giving an effort, I flew by them. I muscled my way through the field and felt great. Just focused on the back in front of me and picked people off one by one. I have to feel good, I set a 5k PR today. What would you do differently?: More hill work for power and speed, I'm certain I can pull off a sub-17 5k. Post race
Warm down: Saw my parents, had some Gatorade. Did light jogging and stretching and put on warmer clothes!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Training time and the fact that I'm focusing on FLT in a week. Event comments: Even with the necessary last minute change, the race was very professional and well run. Great course, great people, awesome post race breakfast, the medals look good and the raffle was awesome. All in all I'm very pleased. I did what I wanted, Top 10 finish OA and podium in AG. I set a 5k PR today for my season, that includes multisport and stand alone 5k's. I even won a digital camera at the post race raffle!! Last updated: 2007-09-16 12:00 AM

Got to the race site extremely early, but I got a great spot in transition. Set up my transition spot, walked around and talked to some folks.
Took the bike out for a spin to make sure it was working soundly. Did a little running with pickups.
