Subject: Halloween Costume Ride & Marine Corps Carbo Load dinner!!

Attention all Northern Virginia BTers, Marine Corps Marathon participants, and other such wannabees:

Some of BT's most brilliant (and partially intoxicated) minds have come up with what might become an awesomely annual event.  The combination of Halloween, alcohol, an impending 26.2 mile run, and a large contingent of Beginner Triathletes presents a perfect opportunity for this one-of-a-kind gathering on FRIDAY OCTOBER 26.

Details are sketchy at this point, but we are planning a carbo loading dinner at Carrabba's in Reston (on Sunset Hills Road) followed by a night ride in full costume on the W&OD.  A few kind BTers have already offered up space for pit stops and changing (and others have been volunteered).  This is the Friday before the Marine Corps Marathon, so there will be LOTS of friendly faces coming to town.

We are looking for a show of hands for those who might be interested in some or all of this debauchery.  Everyone is welcome.  The location, for those unfamiliar, is right near the intersection of 7100 & I-267.  (Fairfax County Parkway and Dulles Toll Road).

Hmm...very tempting...I'm not doing the Marine Corp Marathon (and probably never will), but riding around in constume on the W&OD sounds hilarious 'Cept I think I'm by far the youngest BTer in the NoVA area - is there anyone else under 30?

No - I just don't get a sense that there are too many "young-uns" on here, at least not the ones I knew were from NoVA. I also look a lot younger than I am (I'll be 27 in a couple of months but everyone thinks I'm in college still), which tends to garner being treated accordingly by those around me, so I tend to feel akward around older folk.

I am in and yes we were enjoying after workout beverages when this was discussed. There are some other 20's, early 30's that should be in as well! Of course all ages are welcome/encouraged!

    You'll all probably smoke me

And 1stTimeTri - that was gonna be MY costume! At least it'd be somewhat easy to cycle in - no baggy pants to catch in the gears, and the lovely furry wig would keep my head warm

Then someone has to go as Pee Wee and maybe have a clydesdale dressed up as Frances chasing him.

Depends, but my specific one -
    http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=39167837&memberId=12500226
holds approximately 32 oz., without ice. I would add ice to keep it tasty! Watch out for the bumps and secure that damn "poly web "plug"" (mesh) to not lose a drop!  Add sugar or salt as desired around the top, but be careful not to slice your tongute, the plastic isn't like a margarita glass.

I'm only 27 and will be for another nine months . It's okay, I look young too. When I'm at the pool, people ask: "Do you swim for the high-school team?"

I'm not from your area, but I might be making the trip down.
