I'm official.

There are rooms at the Alden still ( and there's a few BT'ers staying there it seems ). They have suites for just over $100 so if you want to bring food and make it in the kitchenette you can do it easily.

Woohooo!

FYI for those who said they were aged up.  Some races base your age as of Dec 31 of the year of the race.  That may be the case with you.

Can't wait to get there!

On the participants list on the website they did get my age correct.

I may feel young at 34 but my 7th grade students remind me daily of how old I am, so I have no excuse to lie about my age.

Anyway as a wise man once said "I am old, but I am happy"

Glad to see alot of y'all are doing St. Anthony's. Last years was my first (and only so far) Oly. The run crushed me. Gonna do it with 2 co-workers this year and IMPROVE! Trying to make them BT'rs, too.

Hey, Sharon. Yes, you will get to meet herhusband in St. Pete. And he will get a big kick out of his new nickname! We are finally settling down after the hurricanes and high school swim season. Marisa did her last triathlon at ClubMed last month. And she did the Miami Aquathlon series, first one as part of a relay with my neice and second one solo. She enjoyed those races, swim course was nice and wasn't so hot on the run. She is taking a break from triathlon training now, just riding one a week with her Dad. She is growing really fast right now, two 1/2 inches since August, and running hurts her knees. The plan was to start run training again in January, so we are going to take it slowly. The Meek & Mighty will be her first tri for next season, Joe's first ever, and we are all looking forward to it. Hope to see you there!

Hermom - 2004-12-22 9:13 AM And he will get a big kick out of his new nickname!

I'll definitely be there.  However, I screwed up on his nickname.  Bob reminded me.  He's supposed to be Herdad, not Herhusband.  Oh, well.  He can handle it.

Hey, Happy Holidays! Joe will appreciate the Herdad nickname much more than Herhusband! Just booked our room for the race, got in at Comfort Suites for a very reasonable price. It is only 2 or 3 miles from the race site, so getting back and forth should be a lot easier than last year. Looking forward to seeing you again.

ps. Are your kids going to do the Meek & Mighty?

It was nightime so I didn't get the best look. Also I was in the car the whole time so if anyone has been there before please correct me. We went over most of the bike and some of the run. The bike course seemed pretty flat. Some gentle hills but nothing too steep. It runs through commercial and residential parts. I believe one portion goes through a local park, but the park was closed tonight. It also goes past Tropicana Field. Vinoy park seemed nice too. The run is along the water and at one point crosses a bridge that seems to have a somewhat steep but short incline. Nothing too bad along the run course, it seems scenic with some nice houses once you get past the bridge. Hope this helps.

Torment,
You got a pretty good feel of the course it sounds like. But you missed two things I would bring to your attention: (1) the run course is mostly flat and through neighborhoods, but there is not a lick of shade the whole way. I was in the next-to-last wave last year and the heat was noticeable. (2) the swim goes parallel to the pier from the beach then turns left to Vinoy Park. When your in the water, that is one damn-long pier!

The bike course is flat, too, with one or two slight inclines. But I think I remember the turn-around could have been better, ie, around a block rather than on the same road. Also, there are I think, 2 railroad crossings which you don't want sneaking up on you. No, not trains coming, but be careful crossing at less than perpendicular.

Hope to see y'all there and good luck!

John
