hey, you finished--even with a big a## hill at the end1  Keep strong and keep moving, someday it will get easier (at lleast I keep telling myself that on bad runs)

Thanks, zipp. I am less upset now. My coach said that I have not been training for a speedier race such as a 5K, so to not be upset.

Nancy,
Running does get easier.  Running a tri is different than running a 5K.  As you keep training I am sure you will pick up speed and drop time.  Good job getting the better of the course.

Hey, I think you did great! I'm at least as slow as you are... some days much slower! Much much slower. *sigh*

Keep up the training and the weight will melt off. It takes a couple of years. I started this whole thing weighing in around 175. I've been at it for 5 years and now I'm down around 160. Still alot of body to move around, but I'm so much more fit and healthy!

Give yourself a great big hug! Laughing And keep up the good work.

Do you incorporate a walk/run? You might want to think about it. I resisted for a LONG time, but honest to God it's the ONLY way I got through my 17 miler yesterday. It's better (for me, at least) to have a scheduled walk break. I've been just taking one when I felt like it. But for longer distances, scheduling is where it's at.

You may want to give it a try. Some of us just can't take the pounding of running. But hey, we have our OTHER strengths! Laughing I know you're a great swimmer... and pretty hot on the bike too!

Congratulations!

Nancy,

You did great! 5Ks and 10Ks have a lot of fast runners participating as I found out this past weekend. The women who finished at the top of my AG were averaging about a 7:30 per mile pace. Yikes, I can't even do that for one mile much less 6.2.

Running fast takes a lot of work. I don't know about you but I would rather keep working hard on my biking instead. Let those skinny, weany little runners go fast. You would kick their butts swimming and biking.

You will get there just give it some time. Swimming and biking will also help your overall aerobic capacity which should also help your running.
