I love my arm warmers.  Quite versatile, very warm, easy to stow.  Don't have them yet, but will be getting leg warmers this winter so I don't have to wear leggings and can change into shorts

I have two sets of arm warmers and knee warmers and one set of leg warmers from Pearl Izumi, and one set of knee warmers from Performance. Can't really say that I have any huge preferences of one brand over the other. But I atually prefer knee warmers over leg warmers. Why? I just find them more versatile. By the time I need to cover up my legs, I might as well go with some thermal tights over shorts, since I won't be taking them off during the ride anyway.

Other investment -- shoe covers.

Love mine. They are perfect for that time of year when it's a bit cool at the start but warms up before you're finished. I have both and currently use pearl izumi. It's helpful if the leg warmers have a zipper on the side so you don't have to be taking your shoes on and off during a ride. I have shoe covers too. They look like a book that zips around your foot and ankle.....very warm. Thinking about getting some toasties that just cover the front of your foot.

I have 4 pairs of arm warmers (more for fashion than anything...varying colors/matching jerseys, ect) and knee warmers & leg warmers.

Key is to get some with breathable fabric as you will be chilly but sweating too.

I have Performance leg & knee warmers. I like the knee warmers too better...they fit better and aren't as hot. If it is below 45 I'll wear tights over my bike shorts.

Arm warmers I've picked up various ones to match my jerseys and one specifcally to match my BT tri top since I'm racing my HIM in Oct and it may be chilly. Fit matters most...some are tighter on your upper arm then others so how you are built matters.

Try some on, pick which fit best and are good price and enjoy riding in the cooler weather.

You might want to pick up some booties as your feet will get cold too and some Smart Wool socks. I like the PI amphi booties best...had some performance ones that were much colder and harder to get on.

I like DeFeet's arm and knee warmers (Kneekers). I also have some thinner Giordana knee warmers. The Giordanas are nice for those rides where you know you're going to be taking them off at some point as they roll up very small. They're also good for when I'm going to be riding hard and building heat, but still want to keep the wind off my knees.

The DeFeets knee warmers can get too warm unless it's below 50, or unless I'm just doing a easy recovery/recreational ride.

I usually just used my cold weather running gear long sleeve tops as arm warmers when biking it seemed to work well last year, of course in texas it doesn't get all that cold usually low 30's.. but when it has gotten colder I  dress in layer's just like running.

I'm glad someone else started this since I'm looking at different types of leg warmers, last year I just wore running tights over the biking shorts and it just looked bad

Is it as overpriced as their other stuff? I'll pass

To the OP:

I have LG arm warmers $20 at Nashbar and I just bot Performance Polypropylene Arm Warmers for $15. Saved $5 but I really don't like the Performance material at all.

That's funny cuz I'v always worn my shorts OVER my running tights. Never thought it looked that bad. Then again, it's kinda like skiiing. I don't care what I look like as long as I'm beating the elements!

I have pearl izumi arm warmers and I love them... wear them all the time.

I also have leg warmers, but I've never used them. If it's cold enough to cover my legs, I just wear the tights.

The downside to wearing shorts over tights is that you eliminate part of the benefit of the chamois. Chamois' prevent chafing by giving the skin a not irritant surface. Of course you still have the padding benefit.

I completely agree with you. I always wear the tights over the shorts as the shorts provide the comfort, the tights the warmth.

I've got a thin and thick pair of arm warmers. Can't beat Pearli for the thicker fleece ones. I don't like the seam on Performance's - they irritate my upper arm.

I've had a lot of knee warmers through the years. Again, its Pearli over Performance, this time hands down. Beware, if you've got tree trunks for thighs (like me), then the top cuff of the warmers may cause you some grief on long rides. They can also tend to slide down, even when under your shorts. I went to knicker bibs instead or just put my knicker Pearli running tights over my shorts. If a guy, its hard to find knickers for men because apparently they're not "cool." When it gets cool, I'm all about being a fashion misfit instead of a very c-c-c-c-c-cool looking miserable soul...come to think of it, I'm usually a fashion misfit regardless of weather
