Sunny
Total Time = 29m 50s
Overall Rank = 131/201
Age Group = F 20-29
Age Group Rank = 18/29
Pre-race routine:

just hung around - went pee 4 times. i guess a cup of coffee and a glass of water will do that to me, in the morning. tried to stay warm in my warmups. found DMW and her man and chatted for a bit before peeing 1 last time and heading to the starting line.
Event warmup:

i just ran a few strides in the trips between the car and the bathroom, nothing special, but just loosening up, i guess.
Run
  • 29m 50s
  • 3.1 miles

Comments:

tom advised me to try and treat this as an LT test, even though i haven't been working out steadily. so, i tried to slowly increase my speed over the course of the race to take a look at my HRs. I think we're going to assume for now that my LT is 180, since i'm sure i could have held the pace at mile 2 for a while, but not necessarily at mile 3. that's probably about right, for now, just for something to start with.

anyway, so they didn't chip time from beginning to end, just from gun to end, so my official time is 30:05, but i think my actually time is right around 29:50. i think that's reasonable considering how much i've worked lately. which is not a lot :).

this whole run felt pretty good, i was actually trying to run fast, for a change...:)
Post race
Warm down:

drank a bottle of water, and promptly ate 4 donut holes, 1 banana, and 1 cereal bar.

after watching tom and dmw go by after their first loop of the half mary, i got myself a beer and a slice of pizza.....then had another beer and another slice of pizza. i missed both of them crossing the finish line, tom because he earlier than i expected, and dmw i think because i must have been talking to tom after he found me waiting for him at the finish line, wondering what happened to him. oh well.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

i don't train. story of my life. but....not anymore, i really want to hit 27 at some point this year.

Event comments:

This was a nice race - it's a nice course through a state park, it's mostly flat, there is a good amount of shade, and the post race food is quite good, considering the cost of the race (cheapo). i liked it and hope to do the 1/2 mary race next year.

Good job.  Running a sub 30 without training is not easy.  I'll be interested in seeing how you do once you train for an event.

You rock! 5 pee breaks, donut holes, pizza and beer. This sounds like my kind of a race! Well done!
