Event Power

Sunny
Total Time = 1h 05m 3s
Overall Rank = 25/332
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 16/36
Pre-race routine:

One full bagel with whipped cream cheese. Half a power bar. A good amount of Gatorade. 2 Endurolytes.
Event warmup:

Short group of striders in running flats to stretch legs.
Swim
  • 14m 27s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 56s / 100 meters
Comments:

This swim was the most miserable I've ever done. The wind was so strong and I just couldn't get into a groove. I was sucking in tons of water and choking and I got water in my goggles. Not fun.
What would you do differently?:

I would pray to the god of winds.
Transition 1
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

This was fine, except I forgot where my bike was located.
What would you do differently?:

I would make sure I knew exactly what row my transition gear was located.
Bike
  • 30m 22s
  • 10.56 miles
  • 20.86 mile/hr
Comments:

This was a solid bike, but I got slowed down by the wind, which really caused me to drag in certain bits of the race. Obviously this affected everyone, but I think my small mass made it easier for me to be thrown around.
What would you do differently?:

I would become more aero and also pace myself better up the hill.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

I forgot where my transition zone was--again.
What would you do differently?:

Visualize and memorize transition zone!
Run
  • 18m 15s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 05m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt the burn in my legs right from the 3rd minute of the run. I knew I had to pace myself and probably ended up being too conservative. I ran negative splits, and had a pretty blistering last mile, but I can't be disappointed because I was truly worried about cramping up.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder from the start. Grow a little more balls.
Post race
Warm down:

I went backwards on the run course to cheer Sophie and Jon Wu on.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hmm, I'm going to blame the wind, but I also think the swim ruined the bike and the run portions. I simply went extremely anaerobic from minute 5-15 of the race.

Event comments:

This race was awesome. A great location to vacation and a great place to tri.
