1/4 iron Mooseman

I've done several offroad sprint tris this past summer, but I want to work my way up to the longer distances. I'm really looking forward to the race.

I think I will do one other Oly distance as well as a bunch of sprints next year.

On another note, I got a little sticker shock. 80 bucks seems like a lot to pay for a race. I'm sure I'll enjoy it though.

My goal is to do the 1/4 iron Mooseman.

The swim is shorter than an Oly and the bike and run are close. Someone mentioned they were slow...well add me to that group. I'm a BOP middle aged Triathlete...doing it for myself not to win...obvious...but to challenge myself. I'd love to have other BOP BTers to do the race with and bring up the rear.

$80 is cheaper than many other races that long.

Anyone who is going to stay overnight someplace any ideas where you might stay? We'll choose a hotel since there will be 7 of us...hubby and 5 kids.

I haven't signed up. When do you think it will fill up?

I won't be too far ahead of you if at all. I'm looking just to finish as well.

I have no ideas on where to stay at this point. I may stay at Vermont in my uncle's place, but that's just over an hour away. Trying to save money though, at this point my wife tolerates my "addiction" but I don't want to push it too much until she really sees the benefits for me.

If I remember correctly, for Timberman they have a camping "village" for 2005. Can't get much cheaper than that!

I did Timberman and Granite Ledges (same course as the 2005 Mooseman). For both races I stayed in the city of Concord at a very nice Marrott that cost $60 /night. If I remeber correctly, the hotel was about 40 min from Timberman and about 30 min from Newfound lake.

Kathy,

I am not a BOP I think I am Behind the BOPers. I am really trying to decide if I should do it (the 1/4 Iron) especially since swim is my best event but I would love an early goal for next summer. I did the Timberman Sprint last year but found that it was late in the summer.

The camp ground Gunstock for the TImberman is really nice . We stayed there during bike week and it was still pretty calm even with all motorcycle people.

Hotels it depends on your price range. My mom has a cottage on WInnepesaukee so I haven't stayed in hotels but if you give me a name I can probably give you some feedback.

All the Best,
Stacey

I'm considering the 1/4 Mooseman and the 1/2Timberman. Once my ITBS is under control, I need to evaluate my running capability before registering.  Hopefully I still have a couple of months to mull..

While I love the Timber village concept, I'm not sure I want to try to sleep in a tent with the family the night before a 1/2 IM....  Also, my then 8 year old son might do the kids tri on Saturday.
