I want to back up what jszat said about yams. He is wicked fast considering this was his first IM.

I'm voting for Aaron [jeepfleeb] just because he has a bunch of other races that he wants to do, but needs to cross Kona off his list 1st..

plus he gives me great advice when i ask him

amiine - he's gonna be an old man soon, and I predict he'll soon take a break from racing (or at least not in it the way he is now) or he'll make the jump to IM distance, with a KQ to follow; I'm leaning more towards the whole IM thing

excuse me? old? no way, if that is the case Rick is like an antique!

No IM for me, at least not for 2008, and certainly not until I reach my HIM goals...

Dan is another future KQ! I have another BTer to add but I don't want to put him on the spot just yet...

Totally can't forget Dan!

And Jorge, just let me get my walker straight and I'll shuffle over there and kick your butt!

Man...it's so hard.

I've done a 4:45 half, but in my AG, it pretty much takes sub 10 hours. So until I'm in my 60s, I wouldn't put my name on that list.

OK.  Here is the difference between an everyman's triathlete and a Kona hopeful.  PennState (I wasn't the first to put you on this list) and I are both M35-39, about the same height, weight and talent .  Yet he does 3X the bike volume and 2X the run volume.  I believe I could do it.  However, until I bust my butt, put in the consistent training and increase the volume like Birkierunner, Jeebfleeb, Daremo, PennState, Bryancd etc., I don't stand a chance.  However, it being my 2nd season, I don't think my body could handle that much.

My vote: Daremo

Hey, I was the first one to cast a vote of confidence in you, so I can say whatever I want about you .

You know what I mean. You're just not far from that age range where all the fasties seem to for some reason make that jump to IM distance despite previously trying to convince people they're not intersted in making the jump.  That's all I'm sayin' . Are we cool?

I'll have to cast my vote for Birkierunner.  The man can just right out run off the bike.  Now that he has an awesome bike underneath him and some time to really get to know her I think he will lay claim in '08.  Plus he hangs with other Kona Qualifiers which seems to make him want it real bad.  Go Jim!!

If I had to make a $ bet, Daremo.  But I think Daremo, Bikierunner and JeepFleeb all have legit shots at it.

pfffttt, whatEVER! you are on my sh*t list (just kidding)

I really don't have major insterest in IM, don't ask me why. I don't mind swimming/running a lot, but I get bored when I have to ride my bike over 3 hrs at an steady/easy pace. But yeah, I am sure I'll do one someday...
