Swim
Comments: This course was alot shorter than .5 mile. It was most likely closer to .3 miles. I did better swimming this time. I freestyled the first half and then got out of breath and side stroked the rest. I was in the middle of our wave the complete time, either bumping and kicking others or getting bumped and kicked by others. What would you do differently?: I need to keep swimming. I had been doing laps for only a month before this race. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went OK. Suit did get alittle stuck. Once the suit was off, it was on with the helmet, sunglasses, socks, and shoes. Still using my Vans cycling shoes that have laces. A real pair of road shoes with straps would help. Also, ate a Gu. What would you do differently?: Get new shoes and pedals. Bike
Comments: Good course, good ride. Rode hard on the down hills which got me almost 3/4 of the way up the next hill. Passed a hand full of people which felt good. What would you do differently?: Push a bit harder. Looking back I always think I should have rode harder. Transition 2
Comments: The results site actuall ranks T times and I was 16th overall for T2. I think it went well. Used Yankz for the first time on my running shoes and my cycling shoes just slipped off. Put my race belt on while running out of the transition area. Had another Gu here as well. What would you do differently?: Not too much. Run
Comments: The hills we harder than I expected. I ran as much as I could, but I still walked some. I had nothing left when I finished, I was spent. What would you do differently?: This was the farthest I have run in a race or training. Just need to keep extending my distance in training. Post race
Warm down: Drank alot. Only one beer. Waited around for the awards ceremony because my buddy Jason placed 2nd in the Clydesdale div. He also would have placed 3rd in his age group. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just need to keep training. I think of this race as my baseline. I have only been training for 2.5 months. Event comments: Had a good time. I enjoyed the course and the setting. I am looking forward to doing this again next year. They also have a May race which I may do as well. Last updated: 2007-08-14 12:00 AM

Overall Rank = 79/120
Age Group = 30-34M
Age Group Rank = 12/19
Woke up at 5:15am, ate a banana, and hitched a ride to the race with my buddy Jason. We got their early, so we got good rack spots and then we went to pick up our numbers and timing chips. It was a lillt chilly in the morning and we spent the hour before the race setting up and talking with others.
No real warmup. I guess I should try this sometime.
