Comments: Felt awesome! Had enough left in the tank to really push it at the end. Caught up and passed one of my girlfriend's husband in the last 1/2 mile. He fought back and passed me back right at the finish line. He knew he would never live down being beaten by me. :) That aside, pacing felt really comfortable for me even though it's much faster than what I've been running in my marathon training. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder earlier on in the race. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and found my son with his buddies and checked out their finisher's medals. I'm so proud that I'm setting this example for my kids after seeing his face finishing his race today. We walked around together and got water and bananas. Watched big brother do his TKD stuff. It was cool! What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited only by not training speed as much with marathon preps. All in all I am extrememly happy with my performance today. Event comments: This is my neighborhood race, so of course I thought it was great. Just a little hometown race with all the proceeds going to our local schools. It was a great morning to spend with my boys and I'm thrilled that they had as much fun as I did. Last updated: 2007-10-13 12:00 AM

Up at 6:30. Ate my usual pb and bagel and a banana. Drank 1/2 a protein drink. Got my boys up and made sure they were dressed appropriately for the morning. My 7 yr old was running the 1k run as well, while the 11 yr old was doing TKD demonstrations all morning.
Walked to the race site which was 1/2 a mile from our house. Dropped one kid off at TKD and spent the rest of the hour walking through the vendors, playing tag and warming up with my 7yr old. (There were quite a few good hugs in there, too!)
