Total Time = 4h 04m 53s
Overall Rank = 551/1563

Age Group Rank = 66/125
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5 and downed a big bowl of oatmeal, a banana and a couple glasses of water. Got to downtown around 6:30 and drank a "mix one".

I took a dozen different clothes to cover any possible temp/precip combination and trend. Temp was 44 when I arrived and drizzle with a forecast for greater precip and lower temps. I settled on a tech tee shirt, bike rain jacket with vents, shorts, mittens and cap. My rationale was to not have wet clothes and hope I stayed warm enough with the rain jacket. It turned out to be the right choice. Only wish I had rain proof shoes and socks.
Event warmup:

Did a full body dynamic stretch before leaving the house and then again in civic center park.

What would you do differently?:

I intentionally did not push too hard the first half. In hindsight, I could have pushed harder.

Performance: Good
Course: Great start and kept my pace. Saw alot of people start out too fast and then fade within the first couple miles. Ripped my race bib trying to get a water bottle out at mile 4 which I new was going to be an annoyance the rest of the race. I maybe had too much to drink (3 pit stops) which probably accounted for the 5 minutes that I went over my goal. At mile 12 the road split the marathon from the half. The signage and dividing line were there for about a half mile - enough to make me consider 3 or 4 times (ok...I could stop in 9 minutes or 2 hours..hmmmm). Well, I stuck it out. I was expecting to fade after mile 15..no fade..mile 18..no fade...21...no fade...ended up feeling great the entire race. I think the nutrition plan was a good part of it. 3 gels and 5 shot blocks plus lots of accelerade, gaterade and water.

Do they make those?  think there would be a market.

Way to get out there.  I thought about all you folks running when I was chilly just doing something in the garage.  Way to gut it out.

Great job out there! I think all the puddles and rain and running water made it even harder to ignore when you needed to use the bathroom.
